As soon as it gets dark on November 11th, children go from door to door singing with a lantern on a stick. They hope to collect as much candy, chips, and coins as possible.
Always let your child go in a group or accompany them. Most parents allow their children to ring doorbells only at ground-floor apartments during St. Martin's, avoiding unsafe, dark stairwells. Do not let the children go out with tea lights in a lantern or in a jar. This may be fun and romantic, but it's not safe enough for your child.
