As soon as it gets dark on November 11th, children go from door to door singing with a lantern on a stick. They hope to collect as much candy, chips, and coins as possible.

Always let your child go in a group or accompany them. Most parents allow their children to ring doorbells only at ground-floor apartments during St. Martin's, avoiding unsafe, dark stairwells. "November 11th is the day, that my little light may shine," sing the children. And that little light is, of course, in a beautiful lantern.

Do not let the children go out with tea lights in a lantern or in a jar. This may be fun and romantic, but it's not safe enough for your child. Opt for a lantern on a stick with an electric light instead. This light operates on batteries. Check if the batteries are included or purchase them separately at the supermarket.
